TOTEME winters in Aspen with a temporary residency at MAX. A seasonal home at the Colorado ski destination, the residency invites the beauty of the natural surroundings into the space in a literal and metaphorical sense.

TOTEME IN ASPEN

With scenic views on the doorstep, the MAX residency space has been redone to reflect the resemblance between the Colorado landscape and Swedish nature. Visitors are welcomed by elements of the local wilderness, which have been brought into the space from the outdoors and made part of the interiors. Trees have been incorporated in different forms, including a table with a twig, created by a Colorado woodworking artisan. Juxtaposing the natural and the crafted, the space is an exploration of the two realms, right at home in the quiet setting of the majestic Aspen winter landscape.

Elsewhere in the space, TOTEME has commissioned Swedish textile artists and members of the contemporary weaving scene to create modern pieces of weaving as floor and wall decor.

“We felt instantly at home in Aspen and were keen to let elements of the local wilderness into our space. We worked with local woodworking artisans and Swedish textile artists to bring elements from our common natural landscapes into the interiors.”
– Karl Lindman, Co-Founder

The space holds a selection of pieces from the latest collections, hand-picked with the Aspen woman in mind, and will be open from December 14 through March 31 at MAX on 461 E Hopkins Ave, Aspen, CO.
